Please join us for the Third Thursday in July for three new shows of work by Brian Rego, Megan Magill and America Martin. Rego and Magill are new to the gallery, and we are happy to show long time gallery artist America Martin with them. The show will open on July 17th from 5 - 7 pm with all of the artists in attendance. Refreshments will be served. Part of the street will be closed off for music, a food truck, children's activities and socializing. The show runs through August 17th. The gallery is open daily.

Gallery MAR is proud to present Blue Bells and Snowdrops, a new exhibition by celebrated artist America Martin. Known for her bold use of color and dynamic, figurative work, Martin’s latest collection explores the beauty and simplicity of nature through vibrant depictions of flora and fauna.

Of Columbian-American heritage, America is renowned for her robust works using form and figure. Inspired by mid-century masters deconstructing the figure, she uses concentrated line and flat color to create colossal, vibrant subjects appearing to barely be contained by the canvas. There is a joy and exuberance in their expression, "a universal truth" in their gesture. She moves instinctively across her canvases and fine papers with a sure brush. America's titles are a poetry unto themselves, and share her lovely fables of hope and humanity. She has devised a unique style of new modernity while incorporating lessons from indigenous cultures- her own Columbian roots an important component. Represented across the country and internationally collected, Martin continues to impress audiences with her exciting work.

"Outdoors 'til Dusk" is a reflection of time spent in Maine with family and friends. The show will feature 12 brand new oil paintings, 16 framed works on paper, and 4 sculptures.

JoAnne Artman Gallery is pleased to present COLORITO, an exhibition of new works by America Martin. A term usually applied to 16th-century Venetian painting where color is employed in a dominant manner, colorito, or ‘coloring’ was deemed fundamental to conceiving painted images charged with the look of life. America Martin’s modern interpretation includes not only judicious color application, but the vitality and vigor of the world around her as she continues her unmistakable aesthetic sensibility.
